Year 11 Graduation & Prom 2011
A fantastic day was had by all on Monday 27th June when staff and parents celebrated the momentous occasion of Year 11’s graduation ceremony. After a touching opening speech from Mr Collins, Head of Year, the enthusiastic audience, comprising of students and proud family members, were entertained by students receiving a range of well-deserved awards celebrating the successes and achievements of Year 11. Other highlights included some superb musical performances from Lorraine Tan, Turrell Wallace, Roy Buljare and Lundrim Gashi and a moving visual/audio presentation put together by Mrs Smith, capturing memories and moments from the last five years. The closing words were left to Samah Ahmed and Sarah Awad, the afternoon’s valedictorians.
Later that evening students partied on the river Thames celebrating on the Prom Boat Trip. All students had really made an effort (many arriving in quite some style - chauffeur driven in some very elegant looking cars!) and all looking fabulous in their Prom outfits. As the party-boat made its way along the river, students danced and sung and enjoyed watching the sun go down over the landmarks of London. A fantastically warm night provided the perfect setting for a brilliant evening for students to celebrate their time at Paddington Academy. We look forward to seeing some faces return to sixth form and we wish good luck to those heading off to pastures new. That hot and sunny day in June will really be one to remember!
A big thank-you to all staff who supported the event and helped to make the day run so smoothly; and a special thanks must go to Ann Murphy and Vanessa Curtis.
We look forward to sharing in their academic success when the exam results are released in August.
