Outward Bound Trip to Lake District
Students in the Sixth Form enjoyed their first trip of the year to an Outward Bound Centre in the Lake District. 28 students left the academy at 7am on the Monday of half term and travelled to Howtown to begin a 5 day teams and leadership course. During the week the students participated in a number of activities including an overnight expedition sleeping in tents, rock climbing, gorge walking, kayaking, raft building as well as a number of activities around the centre. At times the course is challenging and pushes the students out of their comfort zones by working in teams of 10 and taking on leadership roles they support each other to complete successfully. The weather remained dry throughout the day which meant that the stunning scenery could be appreciated. Thanks go to Mr Twine and Hamish who gave up their half term to accompany the students. The next Outward Bound trip will be at the beginning of the Easter holiday.
