Top Award for PA Army Cadet
Cadet Lance Corporal Vicky Large a Year 10 student at Paddington Academy has been presented with the prestigious Deputy Lord Lieutenant certificate by the Lord Mayor of Westminster, The Right Worshipful Susie Burbridge.
Vicky, accompanied by her family and her head of year, was presented with the award at the Lord Mayor’s Parlour during an awards ceremony on the 21st March.
Deputy Lieutenant Brigadier Paul Orchard-Lisle CBE TD DL MA LLD DSc FRICS read the following citation: “Lance Corporal Victoria Large joined the detachment when the unit first opened; she was quite a shy girl but was very keen to join the cadets. Since then, Lance Corporal Large has gone from strength to strength, attending many camps including Easter camp usually in Wales, First Aid camp, Annual camp and Fieldcraft weekends. She has also taken part in community projects such as collecting for the Royal British Legion on Remembrance Day. Lance Corporal Large has a very important role within the unit, she commands one of the unit sections and has taken the role of duty NCO many times. Her drive and determination is only surpassed by her commitment to the detachment and the Army Cadet Force.”Vicky Large, who is 15 years old, said: “I am completely overwhelmed at receiving the award, and never expected to have even been considered. I really enjoy the ACF and it has given me the opportunity to do so many amazing things.”
Mrs Kellie Reichard, Head of Year 10, who attended the award ceremony said that the Academy was immensely proud of Vicky for receiving this outstanding award.
The Deputy Lieutenant Certificate is an annual award which recognises achievement and outstanding service to the London Cadets. (Only 60 are awarded throughout London to all cadet services).
