Good news: PA comes 5th nationally at Progress 8 (i.e. the top 1%)
Paddington Academy is delighted to announce that is in the top 1% schools in the country with the value added at Progress 8. The new measure places Paddington Academy 5th in the country with the progress made for the past academic year at GCSE level - Progress 8.
On January 21st, the DfE published its league tables. This year, the DfE have introduced a new measure of school performance called ‘Progress 8’. This measures how well students performed across 8 GCSEs and it will soon replace the old measure of 5 A*-C including English and Maths. Progress 8 will become compulsory for all schools from this summer but 327 schools decided to opt in a year early. Paddington Academy was one of the schools which opted in and the tables show that the Academy achieved a score of 0.97 – the fifth highest nationally (i.e. the top 1%).
The measure shows that Paddington Academy add value of 0.97 of a grade from the students’ starting point. This means that on average, every student gets one whole grade higher in each of their 8 GCSE subjects than the national average. That is a considerable achievement and an indicator of how well our students perform in all of their subjects.
