A brother and sister were both celebrating success on GCSE results day on Thursday 22nd August.  Hajar Lamrani achieved exceptional GCSE results, achieving two of the highest grade 9s in Geography and Sociology, four grade 8s and three grade 7s.  Hajar will now take up a place in the Sixth Form at Paddington to study Economics, Geography and Sociology.

Hajar’s elder brother, Ibrahim, is starting in September as a Business Studies teacher at Paddington Academy on the United Teaching programme.  A former student and Head Boy of the school, Ibrahim has returned to the school after graduating in Business from Brunel University.

Ibrahim is happy to be returning to the school: “It is great to be coming back and I only hope that I can help to continue the success that the school has had.  Paddington Academy has had a really big impact on this community and the staff that taught me here helped me to be successful and have inspired me to go into teaching.  I only hope that I can have the same impact and give back to my community.  From waiting anxiously this week for my sister’s results, I know how much exam success means and I am so grateful for the opportunity my education has given me to go into a highly regarded profession as a teacher”.

Peter Jones, Principal at Paddington Academy, said: “We are really proud of the success of our students and we recognise that qualifications are the passport to that success in the future.  One of the things that makes us most proud is the number of students that are so invested in Paddington that they come back to work here.  Since we have been open, we have had over 20 students do this.  Ibrahim will be the 10th former student to achieve qualified teacher status with us.  We have former students in a range of leadership roles within the school, including one Assistant Principal on the Senior Leadership Team.  They are excellent role models to our current students and demonstrate the power of a good education”.
