What will students learn?

In KS5, the Media department offers two different courses:

  1. BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production
  2. Film A Level

Both courses develop students critical and creative skills, considering a breadth of media texts and in turn developing both practical skills and a critical perception of the world around them. The courses allow students to develop their creativity and develop skills that can lead directly both to careers and higher education.

How will students receive feedback?

At Paddington, all students will receive regular feedback from formative assessment tasks. Within the curriculum, specific tasks are allocated for feedback. This ensures all students gain regular feedback. Teachers will mark student work and provide targeted feedback that enables students to improve their work and make progress. To support student understanding, teachers plan high-quality re-teach time to prepare students for their feedback. Across each term, students will receive feedback from multiple tasks.


What examinations / assessments do students have at the end of KS5?

Exam board: Pearson

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production

Exam based assessment: Media representations, responding to a commission, specialist subject investigation, digital media skills

Assignment based assessment: Single camera techniques, pre-production portfolio, film production – fiction, digital magazine production, advertising production, news production, single camera techniques, working in the creative media industry, media campaigns
