Our Business curriculum at Paddington develops our students into confident, enterprising and economically aware young people who understand how businesses operate in the modern world. Through the study of real business contexts, students develop the knowledge, analytical skills and commercial awareness needed to evaluate business decisions and understand the role businesses play within society. Students learn to think critically, communicate effectively and make informed judgements about a range of business issues.

We believe that every student can develop a strong understanding of business through a carefully sequenced curriculum that builds knowledge and confidence over time. Beginning in Year 10, students are introduced to the fundamentals of business activity, including entrepreneurship, business aims and objectives, and the ways in which businesses identify and meet customer needs. As their understanding develops, students explore how businesses operate successfully through effective marketing, finance, operations and human resource management. This provides students with a secure foundation from which to analyse and evaluate business decisions. As students' progress through Key Stage 4, they develop a deeper understanding of the external influences that affect businesses, including economic conditions, technological change, competition and ethical considerations.

Our curriculum combines theoretical understanding with practical application. Students regularly interpret data, analyse financial information, evaluate business performance and justify recommendations using evidence. Through discussion, investigation and examination-style practice, students develop resilience, problem-solving skills and the confidence to communicate well-reasoned business arguments. By the end of their studies, students are equipped with the knowledge, confidence and ambition to pursue further study, apprenticeships or future careers within the world of business.
